China International Pet Show: Hosting a market worth billions
Further growth expected at Asias no.1 pet show, New venue at Beijings New China International Exhibition Center, Excellent market potential in thriving China Crisis what crisis? When the 14th edition of the CIPS -- China International Pet Show opens it doors in October, last years record figures may well be topped again. For the first time the annual show, organized by the China Great Wall International Exhibition Company and NürnbergMesse, will take place at the New China International Exhibition Center near Beijing airport. According to the organizers, there is a potential increase in floor space at the new location of up to 30 percent. In 2009 CIPS saw 590 international exhibitors from 68 countries and an unprecedented number of nearly 27,000 visitors, covering 35,000 sqm gross (14,500 net). The show alternates between Beijing and Guangzhou each year. Initiated in 1997, CIPS has become the largest and most influential pet show in Asia after more than a decade of continued growth. With the increasing number of pets in China, industry segments focusing on pet food, pet training articles, pet health-care, pet grooming and the like are growing rapidly. According to Euromonitor International, today less than five percent of Chinas pets are fed processed food just one figure illustrating the great market potential for further development of Chinas pet market. The dynamics of the national economy has also boosted the pet industrys impressive development: At present there are about three million pets in Beijing alone. According to data from the Beijing Pet Animal Protection Association, a non-profit animal protection organization, Beijings residents spend nearly 50 million Euros per year on pet care. Their experts estimate that the market potential of pet economy in China will reach more than 15 billion RMB (1.5 billion Euros) in the near future. After Chinas accession into WTO, the global pet industry regards China as a virgin market full of unlimited business opportunities. Developed pet countries like America, Britain, Japan and Germany are all aiming at China as one of the biggest target markets for selling pet products. At the same time China is still regarded as an important international production base for pet products. Thus CIPS is not only offering an established business platform for international companies in the Chinese pet market, but also serves as a bridge for Chinese enterprises to enter the overseas pet market. CIPS will host an International buyer's lounge area as well as a special fashion show for pet accessories, following the success of the previous event that was staged for the first time in 2009 and proved to be a visitors magnet. The separate live-fish demonstration display area, which was also inaugurated last year, equally attracted a lot of interest and attention, especially from overseas buyers. The organizers have therefore decided to increase the available space to enable breeders to show an even greater variety of aquarium fish. Visitors who are energized by such an overwhelming amount of new business opportunities will be delighted to learn that they can continue networking in the evenings. They are invited to attend the special networking event set up on the first evening of China International Pet Show. More about China International Pet Show 2010 at www.cipscom.com
