World Animal Day: Celebrate #PetPower

To celebrate World Animal Day, FEDIAF and AnimalhealthEurope have organised a virtual event to discuss the importance of pets in our lives #PetPower!

Please save the date: Thursday 1st October 1400 – 1500 CET
Register here!

During the event a panel of experts will:

  • share their experience and views on how pets are contributing to individual and societal wellbeing
  • explore what we can learn from how pets have helped people, during the COVID-19 pandemic in particular
  • and discuss the importance of the responsible care of our pets.

Animal lovers from all over Europe will come together during our interactive, virtual event. They will tell their stories of the positive role pets play in society, how they helped us through lockdown, the importance of responsible care of our pets, and more!

  • MEP Petras Auštrevičius will share views about the positive role pets play in society and the importance of better care for pets
  • IAHAIO President Dr. Marie-José Enders-Slegers will talk about Human-Animal bond research, and the need for the relationship to be a two-way street
  • Medical Detection Dogs CEO Dr Claire Guest will speak about the power of dogs to detect human diseases and the COVID-19 Detection Dogs
  • EU Dog and Cat Alliance chair Suzie Carley will talk about responsible pet ownership, why ‘A dog is for life, not just for lockdown’ and EU policy for pets.
  • The Telegraph’s Brussels correspondent James Crisp will moderate the discussion.

We want this event to be interactive and welcome participation from both you and your pet. You will be invited to share your own thoughts and opinions and to ask our panellists questions.

Use the hashtag #PetPower before, during and after the event to tell us your own pet power stories.
